"Hope" Humanities Revelation

Hope is the theme I have chosen to represent in a series of photographs. I wanted to convey that stress-relieving moment when all is lost, and you find an opportunity. Throughout life, you can experience moments of darkness when there seems to be no way out. But with persistence, a light will eventually guide you out of the maze of hardship. Sometimes it can feel like darkness is surrounding you, and I really wanted to portray a theme within my photo collection that can give lost individuals hope. Aperture technique experimentation was a huge factor in the success of my photos catching the light. Capturing the lights compared to darks wasn't easy at the time, but that only correlates more to the actual experience. Hope was really important for me to represent because I feel the feeling of being trapped is something everyone has felt at least once in their life. Whether it is mental health, addiction, or simply being at the end of the road, we can unite in the scary feeling of darkness and find the joy or light in life.

"Gateway" by Ordinary Human

I captured "Gateway" in order to portray light almost breaking into darkness. It almost symbols light shining through in the darkness. This photograph plays into my theme of hope by expressing that light does break through the darkness that may surround you at times.

"Within Reach" by Ordinary Human

This photograph titled "Within Reach" acts as a reminder to reach out to the light. It can be hard to get up and find hope when you are in a dark place. Individuals may be held back due to a lack of hope or fear. So, this shows that sometimes finding that hope is just within reach.

"Hope in Hand" by Ordinary Human

"Hope in Hand" is one of my favorite photographs from this collection. In comparison to finding light, this image represents that light guiding you. It intends to show how hope can help you find your way out of a dark time. Holding hope closely lets you rest, knowing the light will guide you to a new opportunity.

"Growing Hope" by Ordinary Human

This particular image looks at hope differently from the rest of the photographs. "Growing Hope" shows that sometimes you must create your hope. It acts as a reminder to maintain a positive outlook as you, as a human, are capable of growing and nurturing beautiful things.

"Heart of Hope" by Ordinary Human

This photograph titled "Heart of Hope" represents the journey's end. You've searched and explored, and you have found your hope. Now, this positive light remains inside you. You can locate the guidance needed when you feel lost within your own heart. Even when you are lost, you are never alone.

The "Hope" collection I have created almost tells the story of finding your lost hope. That guiding light is always in the distance, finding the light, catering to that hope and allowing it to be your guide, growing that hope, and finally that same hope becoming a part of you.
